MeteoHub

For years, we have had a Windows Server running 24 x 7 collecting and serving up our weather data.  As far as I knew, this was my only option.  When our rain gauge died in January of 2010 and I was searching for a replacement, I learned of MeteoHub a running on hacked LinkSys Network Storage Link for USB 2.0 Disk Drives, Model NSLU2.

Basically, MeteoHub flashes the BIOS with a new operating system and function.  Instead of performing as originally intended, the weather station is plugged into one of the USB ports and a USB memory stick is plugged into the second.  It is accessed via HTTP to configure sensor settings, ftp functions, build graphs, etc.

One of the coolest parts about this device replacing a standard PC is that it only consumes 10 watts of power and is quiet as it has no hard drive or fans.
