The Holy Bible
provides excellent examples of life in our ancient agrarian past. The
history, teachings, principles an practices have survived for thousands of
years. There is no better way to gain more insight into these
messages, than to learn about agriculture through gardening.
The following is intended to
help you select plants for your own Bible-themed garden. Each of the following plants
is annotated with referring Bible verses.
The book of Genesis teaches that God said, "Let the earth put forth vegetation, plants
yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each
according to its kind, upon the earth."

seeds are used as a flavoring for meats, pickles, sausages, and
sauces. In this form, the spice is known as
coriander. The leaves are also used fresh in soups, salads

an annual that is low growing (6 in.), has dark green leaves and
reddish flowers. The seeds are collected and dried and

has been used for its medicinal properties since ancient
times. Used as a gargle or in lozenge form, it helps to
